A listing of a few acronyms would be a good idea.
http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/rfc/rfc1855.txtWhere should I list my email address?
You can list your email address with as few or as many posts as you want. Some people prefer to only give out their email address when they want private responses to a message they are posting, others post their email address with every message.Which forum should I post to?
The site has been developed primarily by myself Brian Rickman - writersbbs@media-net.net). and is owned by Joyceb/danse. If you have comments, questions, or constructive criticism about the site, feel free to send me an email. I maintain the site on my own time, as a hobby. I've written most of the CGI scripts that are in use here including the discussion forums and chat rooms. Financial support is primarily "out of pocket," but recently some advertisers have generously paid enough to cover the cost of renting space on the web server. If you see banner adds at the top of any pages, be sure to click on them and check out the advertiser's site. This lets them know that you appreciate their help in keeping The Writer's BBS running. If you would like to make a donation in support of this site, please see http://www.writersbbs.com/html/donate.html.If we delete our post, does it delete the responses as well? The first response or all of them?
If you delete your post, the posts directly under (and in response) to yours will drop to the bottom but remain on the forum. When we delete something is it gone for good? Or does it go to some trash can where it could possibly be retrieved?
It's gone for good. How far back do these postings go? Could someone go back and see every posting ever posted?
The script keeps at most 500 messages per forum; after that, for each new messages posted, the oldest is deleted. Also, messages are automatically deleted after 30 days.If we reenter our password, can we go in and edit what we've written, or is our only option to delete?
Yes, you may edit your post, however the Subject Line is not editable.Do you look in on all the forums everyday, or do you depend on someone notifying you, say, of a specific question or problem located in a specific forum?
I look in on the forums fairly often, but not every day. If there's a specific post you want me to look at you're more likely to get a quick response by sending an email to writersbbs@media-net.net.Do you write also, and join in any of the conversations? I just got an account but I when I try to post a message it says my user name and password don't match. What's going on?
Be sure you are typing your user name and password EXACTLY like they are in the email message you received from account@writersbbs.com. If it still doesn't work, check again and be sure that you are using the same Capitalization. If the email message shows your name as "George", the capital "G" is required.Would you still like more FAQs?
Always. They're even better if they come with answers, but you're welcome to ask questions at any time.
